October 1, National Day, marked the 60th anniversary of the formation of the People’s Republic of China. There are always fireworks on National Day, and this year’s did not disappoint. Of course, we had a party to share the great view from the 67th floor. My friend commented, “This was the first time I ever looked down on fireworks.” Most of you in the US are probably aware of the PRC’s anniversary due to the media coverage of the Empire State Building changing its colors to honor of the day. All the celebrations in Beijing were televised. The holiday was on Thursday and all businesses are closed. Neither of us worked on Friday, so we enjoyed a long, relaxing weekend.
In September 2007, my husband, Erik, and I moved to Hong Kong. This blog lets our friends and family know what were're doing. Anyone who stumbles on it is welcome to follow along! I am trying to show a small glimpse into our lives and into the Hong Kong lifestyle. We love this city!
